It’s 2021. What should your employees be wearing to work these days? Should you change up your business dress code to match the new WorkLeisure vibe? We have the answers.

In a world where meetings are on a computer screen and people do their best to stay at least 6 feet away from nearly everyone, including co-workers, business dress codes are becoming less and less clear. One business owner recently updated his 300-word office dress code instructions to two words: “no pajamas.” So where does your company stand?

After more than a year of working from home, retail, restaurant, and corporate workers need something new to wear to work. And the new options are great news for most people who work outside of home. There are yoga pants that look like dress pants, classier and even more comfortable T-shirts, and cushy, comfy sandals that look like a million bucks.

For the remainder of 2021, WorkLeisure style is leaning more toward the casual boho, street vibe that many urban dwellers have long been sporting. Layering tees or hoodies under sport coats or above skorts (yes, they are back), or leggings is commonplace.

“The pandemic taught us that comfort is key, but we still want to look and feel good about ourselves,”

says Kortni Remer, owner of Broken Arrow.

Before the pandemic, studies showed that 4 in 10 employees (41%) were unsure about whether what they are considering wearing is office appropriate.  In 2021, that uncertainty is even higher, possibly as high as 6 in 10.

So, what should your dress code be? “Custom-logo, business-casual apparel is the way to go,” says Remer. “When your employees sport your business logo on their button downs, hoodies, and T-shirts, customers can easily identify who can help them. Your employees don’t have to think twice about what to wear to work. As the business owner, you don’t have to worry whether your employee will wear something inappropriate. Plus, the brand recognition on employee clothing is impactful and super affordable. It’s a win for everyone.”
