Tips from Our Experts: Customized Fishing Shirts
Fishing shirts are designed to make fishing easier and more comfortable for anglers. These features may include utility chest pockets that can hold a fly box or other small fishing equipment, built-in mesh ventilation panels, accessory loops or rod holders, and UPF (Ultraviolet Protection Factor)-fabric. Most UPF fishing shirt fabrics are also lightweight, breathable and moisture-wicking. Here are some important points for you to consider:
Long Sleeves Offer Better Sun Protection
One of the main purposes of a fishing shirt is to protect you from the sun, so consider a long sleeve style for the ultimate in sun protection for your arms.
Almost all of the fishing shirts in our catalog will have added sun protectin of UPF30+, with some offering as high as UPF 50+.
Pocket Are Useful Tools
While some just like the look and style of fishing shirts, they offer useful pockets and utility loops.
They can hold your fishing lures, supplies and some even have a spot for your fishing rods. You can use your pockets for your casual items too like pens, money, and even your cell phone.
Not Just for the Water
While they were designed to keep you cool and dry during fishing, fishing shirts have become a style staple of their own thanks to famous people, like Luke Combs, wearing them as an everyday piece.
Fishing shirts are popular due to both their elevated look and functionality. Customization is popular with outdoor companies, for a business casual look and even events.
Back Panel Keeps You Cooler
Fishing shirts are usually made out of polyester or nylon, which are quick drying materials. These materials are less breathable than cotton, so they do feel warmer when wearing.
Thanks to their ventilated back, you'll find that your customized fishing shirt might actually wear cooler with the mesh ventilation letting air flow throughout the inside of the shirt.

Custom Fishing Shirts — Frequently Asked Questions
There are plenty of button-down shirts with features that seem similar to a fishing shirt, but what actually sets a true fishing shirt apart? After working with hundreds of customers and selling thousands of fishing shirts, these are the features people care about most:
- Sun Protection: A true fishing shirt should offer built-in sun protection. The fabric is designed to help shield your skin from UV rays, giving you protection similar to wearing UPF-rated sunscreen without needing to constantly reapply it to the areas covered by the shirt.
- Moisture-Wicking, Quick-Drying Fabric: Because fishing shirts are made to be worn around water, they should use lightweight performance fabric that does not hold moisture like cotton. Whether you are dealing with splashing water, humidity, or sweat, the shirt dries quickly and helps keep you more comfortable.
- Vented Back Panels: Without added ventilation, you mostly just have a polyester button-down shirt. Back vents help air move through the shirt, which makes a big difference when you are wearing it in warm weather around the lake, river, or boat.
We recommend DTF, or direct-to-film printing, for customizing fishing shirts. Screen printing can work well for a left chest logo, but it can be more difficult on the back vented panel because of the shirt’s construction. DTF is a better option when you want a logo on both the left chest and back panel because it handles those areas more easily. Embroidery is usually not our first choice for fishing shirts because it can feel a little too heavy for this type of lightweight performance fabric.
While customers love the performance of polyester moisture wicking tees, they do not love the shiny look and feel. Cotton touch or cotton feeling polyesters have the same performance you would expect, but are designed to look and feel more like cotton - even though they are not.
The final price will be dependant on the number of shirts, the print and the actual shirt itself. You can expect to spend between $38-$55 for a fishing shirt, sometimes even higher for name brands like Columbia.
No! We offer direct-to-film printing on all fishing shirts with no minimum order required.
Fishing shirts not only make great one of gifts, but they are also popular for customers that are reselling products. Some of our customers that have ordered printed fishing shirts are bars and resturants, musicians, tourists shops and even outdoor businesses.
