Preferred Marketing Inc. was founded to centralize critical functions of manufacturing and management tasks for financial efficiency and marketing effectiveness.

Our philosophy of doing business is that it is our responsibility to be clear about what we understand that our customer wants. HISTORICAL TIMELINE AND MILESTONES

• Broken Arrow’s parent corporation, Preferred Marketing, Inc. was incorporated late in 1989. Kurt and Mari Stocker were operating a cable system management and marketing organization called Preferred Services, Inc.

• Early in 1989 the Stockers purchased a building in Polk City that had housed a very well known Biker Bar called Broken Arrow. In the 70’s and early 80’s, Broken Arrow evolved to one of the hottest county music club and deli in the Midwest.

• When the bar was closed and the building went up for sale, Kurt and Mari Stocker were approached by its owner and agreed to buy the building, name, contents and all. In late 1989 they invested in a small screen printing operation that they moved into the building in Polk City.
  The Stockers could not consider changing the name of the building so the screen printing company became Broken Arrow Custom T-Shirt Screen Printing. Counting its heritage, Broken Arrow is one of the oldest businesses in Polk City. Broken Arrow also employs the most staff outside of local public employers.

• In 1996 Broken Arrow began its in house development of web sites.

• In 1997 Broken Arrow opened its first showroom in a garage in Johnston, Iowa.

• In 1999 the old beer garden became the new screen printing and embroidery production shop.

• In 2000 Broken Arrow moved to a better showroom in Johnston, Iowa.

• In 2003 Broken Arrow moved its showroom closer to Merle Hay Mall in Des Moines.

• In 2004 Broken Arrow operates eight on-line showroom sites, many shopping cart sites for fulfillment and merchandising clients and a prime showroom in Des Moines. Broken Arrow has added six positions over the last year, four artists and one web developer and one customer service position.
